Mary Burke (b.1959) studied Fine Art at NCAD and graduated with an honours BA (1982). She has exhibited extensively both in Ireland and abroad. She has had seventeen solo exhibitions and has been awarded residencies at the Leighton Artists Colony at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada and a United States Information Agency fellowship to work at the Vermont Studio Center, USA. She has received a number of awards including a major bursary from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation (Montreal), and a Golden Fleece award from the Lillias Mitchell Trust. She has also been awarded bursaries from the Irish Arts Council (2007 and 2009) and a Arts Grant from Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council (2010). Her work is included in many public and corporate collections including The Arts Council, The AIB International Financial Services Centre, Ulster Bank, The Irish Inter-Continental Bank, Eircom, Dublin Airport Authority, Aer Motive Ireland, South Dublin County Council, Fingal County Council and the Office of Public Works. Mary Burke is a founder member and director of NAS (an artists studio group based in Dublin city centre). She also holds Masters Degrees in Anthropology and Digital Media Technologies. Her most recent solo exhibitions are Suburban Shadows at the Dunamaise Arts Centre, Portlaoise (2010) and Imagined Spaces at RUA RED, Tallaght, Dublin 24 (2011) and at NAS Studio, Dublin (2011). Her latest solo exhibition, Memory Traces, opened at the Draiocht Arts Centre, Blanchardstown, Dublin in November 2013 and will continue until February 1st 2014.
